Santa Cruz declared itself a ‘Sanctuary City’ in 1982 after Federal Immigration and Naturalization raids upset the illegal alien enablers of the city. Now, the Santa Cruz city council has called in ICE to quell their violent illegal alien gang problem. Yes, I am stressing the illegal alien part of this gang intervention cry for help by a city that stopped enforcing the law and protecting its citizens to become a politically correct refuge for chaos. A city doesn’t call in ICE to help with gangs made up of common American thugs. As the article points out ICE gets called in when illegal alien gangs can be broken up by a tool called deportation in addition to imprisonment. It’s too bad the citizens of Santa Cruz had to put up with a nearly three decade descent into PC hell. Too bad our Oakland city council didn’t pass a resolution calling for a partnership with ICE rather than a boycott of Arizona.

Yep, Charles, when a PC 'Sanctuary City' like Santa Cruz cries for more ICE, you can bet the threat is worse than they can put into words. My guess is the violence finally reached the neighborhoods of a couple Santa Cruz council members and suddenly being politically correct lost its shine.

Indeed it does, Bernita. It would probably be depressing to know the number of murders, burglaries, rapes, etc. which would not have happened had Santa Cruz decided law enforcement was more important than being a PC 'Sanctuary City' over the past decades.
Well, at least we know they're not dealing with Gun Violence - CA has the strongest gun laws in the nation.
It's a very strange situation out here, Matt. The police can get full backing to crash a private citizen's residence for the slimmest of reasons and confiscate any handgun in the house - but right down the street gangbangers can have a stash of full auto AK47's and no one raids their hangouts. I guess the rest of us are easier targets. I hope ICE works out for Santa Cruz. They used to be a great spot to visit before they became a Mecca for illegal alien gangs.
