Memorial Day Thank You

I know many have seen this somber reminder but today is the day to share it once more.

It is the
VETERAN
,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the
VETERAN
who
salutes the Flag,

It is the
VETERAN

who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON
THEM.

True to contempt form, obama does not attend Arlington. I guess he was too busy to show respects for the fallen.

Man, was the media being the apoligist for him. They tried to show Bush walking in the Normandy cemetary and not being at Arlington. Well, duh. He was in Europe at the time.

Obama choose not to go to Arlington and instead sends the VP which is about as good as sending his dog imho.

We have hundreds of thousands of young men and women veterans who hold the key to our country's future, Charles. I believe they will do well.

We don't need President Obama to say thank you, whydibuy. Each of us can do so quite well on our own. No one can darken this day. Crosses mark American soldiers' graves around the world where they gave their lives for our freedom. Those cemeteries on foreign land under the Stars and Stripes bear witness to the hallowed place they hold in our hearts forever.

"They grow not old, as we who are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning,
We will remember them."

That is a very poignant passage, Bernita. I love the first part of it too.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
