Medal of Honor

It is appropriate to honor one of our American heroes on the day after remembering 9/11. Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta of Hiawatha, Iowa will become the first living Medal of Honor recipient Hero since the Vietnam War. Sgt. Giunta’s bravery under fire and commitment to his brother soldiers is an inspiration to all Americans. He had already been awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After first helping wounded paratroopers to safety, Sgt. Giunta chased down two Taliban in the darkness dragging a mortally wounded comrade away and fixed them so they would never drag another American into darkness. God bless you Sgt. Giunta. Thank you for your service to our nation.

The Sergeant makes us all proud we're citizens of the nation he defends, Charles. I hope his comrades in arms come back here and run for office. They at least believed in their country enough to volunteer to lay down their lives in defense of it.
