THE LURE OF HELL

I made up a new cover for my sequel to HARD CASE. It will be released on July 4th. It's in the test phase right now. I needed something to do my ad in July's BTS e-mag with. Any thoughts on how it looks would be much appreciated.  :)

Here's the new HARD CASE cover too:

Thanks, Charles. I'm going to redo the HARD CASE cover in similar fashion so they have a series look to them.

I'm concerned about the image being so close to Hard Case 1. (Yes, I know it's the same image.) IMO, it shouldn't be. Also, the font in book 2 makes it harder to read the title and your name. Both of which should stand out from whatever image you choose to go with. I hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the input, Jordan. RJ and I are shooting for a very similar theme on all of them. I'm working on the third book now. The image, the flag overlay, and the white lettering are going to be a mainstay in the series. The paperback flaps look terrific that RJ worked out using the covers. We had a time frame before we had to have something concrete for marketing, including the ad I have coming out in BTSe-mag's July issue.

I understand. I think I should've been clearer. If you're going to use the same image (and there are ways of using similar, but different images that work well), then the composition of the cover needs to change enough so the readers who don't bother to look for numbers on the cover won't pick up the wrong book.

Deadlines are bitch. I totally get the need to rush. :)

It looks good! And it's nice they have related covers.
On "The Lure of Hell" the vertical lines on the building make the title slightly more difficult to read - but maybe all these parallel lines are meant to be... :-)

They're both in production now, V. We're getting great feedback on them. The remake of that first cover for HARD CASE is a vast improvement. I should have changed it a long time ago. RJ had been getting complaints about the HARD CASE cover from the time it was released. It seemed like a fitting cover from the illustrator at first, but the negative comments were many. With the second book coming out in July, we had to use something different. The lines in the top picture are actually part of the Mandalay Bay building where some of the main scenes take place. Thanks for checking in on this.
