Susan Boyle from Britain's Got Talent

I don't watch reality TV or Idol shows, but I do check out extraordinary performances on YouTube when I've heard they're surprisingly good. This performance by Susan Boyle is stunning.

Yes, she was great.

I sure wouldn't have wanted to be the one who followed her, Charles. :)

I was going to post about Susan on my blog when I first heard her, and I must've listened to that YouTube cut about ten times. But then I replied to so many other blogs about it, I figured there wasn't any point, lol.
She literally took my breath away. The voice of an angel that moved me to tears.
And I was so glad, because they were so snippy to her, to see her blow them all out of the water. Simon Cowell looked like a smitten little boy. :)

I was the same way, Raine. I've heard that particular song from Les Misérables but I've never heard it done as well. I'm no Metro-Man but I get a catch in my throat every time I see her performance. I heard her version of 'Cry Me A River' she did ten years ago. I've never cared for that song much, but Ms. Boyle made me like it. I think Simon was seeing dollar signs. :)

So she was performing 10 years ago but never made it? It was an amazing performance.

She cut one song on a CD variety disc for charity, Beth, with only local circulation. I hope this works out for her.

She was brilliant!

Simon Cowell always sees dollar signs whenever he finds a hidden talent. Part of the reason he and Piers Morgan were initial unbelievers is they see so many people who claim they can sing, and cannot. The Brits tend to be snippy and hard edged with criticism. The person bearing the brunt of it needs to stand up to it, which Susan Boyle did.

Simon Cowell is expected to find new talent, not only for his own recording company but Sony BMG, too. He needed another Paul Potts and it seems he has not only Susan Boyle, but a second one, a boy of 12.

Bernard, someome will cut Susan Boyle a deal recording or theatre performances.

I should add that Susan Boyle can sing just as well without music as with. That's something not every good singer can do.

I wish both Simon and Susan success, Barbara. I don't watch the Idol shows at all, but if I hear of an exceptional performance, I watch the clip on YouTube. I understand the concept for the shows and I couldn't do what Mr. Cowell does for any amount of money.

It was obvious Ms. Boyle could sing with or without music. She picked one of the most difficult songs for any singer to do. It is a piece done theatrically where the orchestra plays background while the singer must carry the song alone. Susan not only did that, she also performed every pause and peak perfectly.

What an absolutely fabulous singer she is!

Apparently they call her "Simple Susie" in the village she lives in and although she entered the local talent contest six years in a row - she never won!

Latest news is that she has had her eyebrows plucked ;D

They must be tone deaf back in her village, Miladysa. :)

Remarkable - wonder what will happen to her now?

She looks like she can handle fame and fortune, Leigh. Perhaps she'll be the exception to the rule.
