Individual Carbon Tax

The world wide global warming scam artists have already begun testing the waters of how far they can tax us for something the government can charge for without ever spending a nickel to produce: hype. The UK Telegraph outlined Lord Smith of Finsbury’s plan to give each person an individual carbon number. Every poor sap will have to hand in the card with the number so any purchase can be debited in carbon credits. When it falls to zero, the dastardly consumer will have to buy carbon credits, which of course are imaginary. You’ll need to read this to believe it – coming here soon, folks: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/carbon/6527970/Everyone-in-Britain-could-be-given-a-personal-carbon-allowance.html

Here in the USA, Congress is looking at a carbon tax much like Oregon has been trying to screw their citizens with - a tax on the mileage everyone drives, in addition to the federal and state gas tax. This is of course listed as a save the environment tax. I’m certain the mouth breather sensor for calculating the CO2 us pesky living organisms are exhaling and killing the planet with will soon be on the market. Maybe we could barter for leniency on the tax if we agree to hold our breath for five hours a month. :)

  1. This sounds like a story from a counter-utopia set in a (not so) distant future... But real and scary!

  2. It has become stranger than fiction, Vesper, with the number of ways this world wide syndicate of thieves has invented to steal money. No service, no product, and no vote on whether the majority of us peons buy into their scam or not. They invent the tax from imaginary hype, put it into law without a vote, and extort the money from us while turning our countries upside down.

  3. They don't really need new ways to steal our money. They're stealilng enough of mine right now.

  4. They sure don't, Charles, but they are. :) If you don't like it, you're just one of those rich people who refuse to pay their fair share. :)))) Nowadays if you've worked all your life like a dog, saved when everyone else ran their credit into the ground, and paid all your debts - you (me too) don't know the suffering of the less fortunate because we were practically born with a silver spoon in our mouths. :)

  5. Hello Bernard! As luck would have it, I own a company which manufactures gaseous analytical standards used in determining (among many other things) CO2 levels in everything from buildings to the atmosphere. So I get a first hand look at how eager scientists are to be involved in these types of programs. It's so much easier for them to get research money for "politically correct" programs than not. Later, when they have to carry their own carbon cards, they might re-think what they've been doing.

  6. Hi, Rick. In my day job the measurement of CO2 is a must so I have great respect for the mechanics of measuring it. If a vehicle measures out the tailpipe at over 14% CO2, I know combustion is very close to complete. On the other side if it reads lower than 14%, I start hunting for mechanical or fuel failures. If humans don't exhale it, we're dead. If vehicles don't produce it, they're dead. If plants don't obtain it, they're dead. As to your point, the scientific community will probably be exempt from carbon credits like our congress is from the new health care bill. :)

  7. A bit like that nincompoop who invented the income tax. And yes it does all sound rather like science fiction.

    What next?

  8. 'What next?'

I'm ashamed to admit this MD, but even I don't have as much imagination as the Eco-Taxers. I can imagine a time when they will tax the very square footage you take up in a day. :)
